Hand Therapy

Hand Therapy

Hand therapy is the art and science of rehabilitation of the upper quarter of the human body. Hand therapy is a merging of occupational therapy and physical therapy theory and practice that combines comprehensive knowledge of the upper quarter, body function, and activity. Using specialized skills in assessment and treatment, hand therapists promote the goals of prevention of dysfunction, restoration of function, and/or reversal of the progression of pathology in order to enhance participation in life situations for individuals with upper quarter disease or injury.

Hand Therapy is offered at the following locations:

If you are limited in your everyday activities due to pain, decreased range of motion and/or decreased strength as the result of an elbow, wrist or hand injury, you can benefit from occupational hand therapy.

Absolutely! In order for our occupational therapists to best understand how to help with your pain, it is important that they observe the set-up of your work station, general amount of time spent there, and understand any additional physical activity you pursue outside of that environment. Our occupational therapists will advise patients to bring in a picture or diagram of their work environment so they can give ergonomic advice. Depending on your unique situation, modalities, manual techniques and exercises can be recommended in order to best treat your symptoms.

Most therapy services are covered by insurance and we accept a wide array of insurance plans.  Your out of pocket expense including deductibles and co-insurance/co-pays will vary depending on your current insurance plan.  Our team can help determine these costs for you and answer any questions you have regarding your coverage.
