Here at ProActive we do not subscribe to a “no pain, no gain” philosophy when it comes to exercise. Exercise should be fun and more importantly, no one method is right for everyone. One of our favorite pieces of rehab equipment at ProActive is our rebounder. We use it for throwing programs, balance training, and return to running programs. But, it can also be used at home as an exercise method. In order to help astronauts returning from space, NASA did a study on reconditioning exercise. Here are some of the potential benefits when compared to treadmill training.
- Running puts more pressure on the ankles; rebounding distributes the stress throughout the body.
- Oxygen consumption while rebounding can be more than twice as efficient as treadmill running.
- Rebounding strengthens the musculoskeletal system and protects the joints from the impact delivered by exercising on hard unforgiving surfaces.
- Rebounding strengthens the heart and other muscles to work more efficiently and helps to facilitate more even blood pressure.
- Rebounding can slow down the atrophy in the natural aging process. And it can improve balance.
It can be used for a multi faceted callisthenic routine. With use of the larger version you can even do upper body, abs, and core work.
