One of the challenges we face when working with Combine athletes is, they are training at a very high level daily and we need to use treatments that will allow for and help maximize their high level of training. Likewise, many of our clients feel the same way. Golfers don’t want to give up their weekly game. Runners and tri-athletes don’t want to miss any training days, high school athletes don’t want to miss any games. Even the “normal” activities such as driving, lifting, carrying things and working need to continue daily.
Kinesio Taping can be effective in helping the football athletes continue training at their highest level as well as help all of our clients continue with their activities of choice. The Kinesio Taping® Method is a rehabilitative taping technique that is designed to facilitate the body’s natural healing process while providing support and stability to muscles and joints without restricting the body’s range of motion. As well as providing extended soft tissue manipulation to prolong the benefits of manual therapy techniques we do in the clinic. Latex-free and wearable for days at a time, Kinesio® Tex Tape is safe for not only our high level college athletes, but also populations ranging from pediatric to geriatric, and successfully treats a variety of orthopedic, neuromuscular, neurological and other medical conditions.
After each evaluation of each of our clients, the PT in conjunction with the client develops a treatment plan/ protocol. Kinesio Tex Tape can be a valuable addition to this protocol. It has been proven to have positive physiological effects on the skin, lymphatic and circulatory system, fascia, muscles, ligaments, tendons, and joints. It can be used in conjunction with other manual treatments and modalities and is effective during the rehabilitative and chronic phases of an injury. Many of the therapists here at Proactive Physical Therapy are certified in the Kinesio taping technique, and we have had some of the same success with many of our clients as we do with our elite level athletes.
