What Shoe Is Right For You?
Written by Alberto on August 28, 2017 |
What shoe is best for you? The short answer is it depends. It depends on a lot of factors, including foot type, joint mobility, strength and posture. There is not one shoe type or brand on the market that works for everyones foot. Lets talk about some general differences of shoes on the market.
Shoe Type is differentiated by levels of stiffness. Construction of shoe determines stiffness.
Rules for shoe recommendation:
- Always try on the shoe in-store before purchasing
- Comfort of a shoe should be a strong consideration. Although certain shoes take some time to break in, you should never walk out of the store with a shoe that is uncomfortable in hopes that is will get better
- Shoe type selection based on static arch height does not work. This is because our foot position is dynamic and is constantly changing when we walk or stand or participate in our activities.
- If your having difficulty making a selection, seek out professional help from your local physical therapist and get an evaluation to determine which shoe would best fit your foot type.
